Swanky Kong is an entrepreneur and one of the Kongs in the Donkey Kong franchise. He makes his debut appearance in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.

History[edit]

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest[edit]

In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Swanky is the host of a game show named Swanky's Bonus Bonanza, where Diddy and Dixie must answer questions about the game correctly to earn an Extra Life Balloon, either red (one life), green (two lives), or blue (three lives), depending on the difficulty. The questions range from easy ones, such as enemies and worlds, to more difficult ones such as objects in the background of levels.

In the Game Boy Advance version of Donkey Kong Country 2, Swanky retains the same role but has Candy as his assistant (although she has no talking lines). Upon completing all of his quizzes, Swanky rewards Diddy and Dixie with a photograph of himself to add to the Scrapbook.

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble![edit]

In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, Swanky runs a sideshow tent named Swanky's Sideshow, where the goal is for Dixie or Kiddy to throw balls at enough targets within the time limit. Playing the minigame is optional, as Swanky only gives basic items such as Bear Coins and Banana Bunches as a reward for winning, or a fraction of each as a consolation prize for losing.

In the Game Boy Advance version of Donkey Kong Country 3, Swanky instead runs Swanky's Dash, a virtual reality game where Dixie (Kiddy is too young to play) has to collect up to 100 stars in a circular rotating area. The rewards for clearing the challenge include Bear Coins, Banana Bunches, and Extra Life Balloons. If Dixie collects enough stars the first time during the challenge, Swanky rewards her with a Banana Bird.

Mario Superstar Baseball[edit]

In Mario Superstar Baseball, Swanky Kong makes a cameo appearance as a depiction on the "DK Cannon" wooden billboard in the background of Donkey Kong Jungle, with the billboard showing Swanky's Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! artwork. Swanky's sideshow tent is also shown in the background of the stadium.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Swanky makes a cameo appearance as a spirit.

Physical appearance[edit]

In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Swanky wears a blue oversized jacket and had an afro hair style. In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, he wears a white long-sleeved shirt, a gold vest, a bowler hat, black pants, black and white shoes, and had a diamond-topped cane. In Donkey Kong Country 3's Game Boy Advance version, Swanky's design was reverted to his Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest appearance, and his sprites are reused from the Game Boy Advance version of said game.
